Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Winter Sports Tournament Information

As the whirlwind of winter sports continues, we begin planning for the MHSAA postseason tournaments. The boys and girls bowling teams will begin their regional tournament on Friday, March 19. Calvin Christian is set to host at Fairlanes in Grandville. The girls will begin first at 8:00 AM followed by the boys at 12:0o PM. Due to COVID restrictions, the regional tournament is one day only and the team scores will be counted toward their individual scores. A lesser amount of athletes will qualify for state in order to keep numbers down. 1 fan is allowed per athlete. For more regional bowling info, go here.

Girls basketball has had a strong season and currently stand at 8-3 overall and 2nd in the conference at 5-1. Their district tournament will be held at Covenant Christian in Grand Rapids beginning on 3/22. The MHSAA MPR ranking has placed the pumas 2nd overall in their district gifting them a first round bye. The team will open on Wednesday, March 24 and will play the winner of Calvin Christian and Wellspring Prep at 5:30 PM. The pumas beat Wellspring earlier in the season 51-30 and fell to the Squires of Calvin Christian, 37-43. The finals will be played on Friday, March 26 at 7:00 PM. Other teams in their district include Covenant Christian, Northpointe Christian, and Saranac. You can find an interactive bracket here.

The pumas are just returning from COVID quarantine and will resume action this week in preparation for districts. The boys MPR ranking was not enough to earn a buy and they will open with Calvin Christian on Tuesday, March 23 at 5:30 PM. They were originally scheduled to play Calvin on March 12, however their game was cancelled due to COVID concerns. The finals will be played on Saturday, March 27 at 7:00 PM.
